Partnerships

The Yanks Air Museum and Recreation Center Greenfield is the result of a strong partnership between the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nichols, the County of Monterey, the City of Greenfield, and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA). Creation of the Yanks facility Greenfield required approvals from the County of Monterey, the City of Greenfield, the California Department of Transportation, the Local Agency Formation Commission and the State Department of Housing and Community Development.

Additionally, a key element of the Yanks facility Greenfield's success is the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration's (EDA) 2001 award of a "Greenfield Utilities Project" grant to the City of Greenfield and County of Monterey to extend the City's water and sewer infrastructure to the Yanks' site. This grant was based, in large part on the economic development the Yanks facility Greenfield would bring to the South County area.

Today, with construction underway, the owners, the County and the City are continuing their partnership by moving forward with annexation of the Yanks facility site to the City of Greenfield, pursuant to a Memorandum of Understanding and Tax Sharing Agreement between the City of Greenfield and the County of Monterey, which application is being initiated by the City of Greenfield.
